$5M in funding from Bain Capital Ventures and hiring!
When I joined Bain Capital Ventures in March of 2012, I did so with the expectation that I would find an existing early stage technology company to join and help lead. I was ready and excited to do just that. However, none of that anticipation could have prepared me for the excitement and energy that I have experienced in the last month as we have co-founded a new software company – Stackdriver.
The idea for Stackdriver was effectively born out of the Bain Capital Ventures offices in Boston (where we hosted our first brainstorming sessions, customer calls, and interviews) and we are very fortunate to have raised a $5m Series A investment from BCV and two great investors with a strong track record in our space. Ben Nye and Ben Holzman (“The Bens”) have been a part of many successful infrastructure management companies–including Solarwinds, Dynatrace, Network Intelligence, and Rapid7. Stackdriver is another calculated bet for them in a domain they know well, during a technology paradigm shift to public cloud infrastructure. We could not be more excited to partner with them here.
With the funding closed, we are focusing most of our efforts on building a great team. Being the “right fit” for Stackdriver culture starts with a high degree of integrity, customer focus, and a team mentality. We also spend a lot of time thinking about the right skill set and domain expertise, and are super excited about our first hires–bringing strong talent with experience at Red Hat, Endeca/Oracle, and HubSpot to complement the backgrounds of the founding team. I have been fortunate to spend time with great infrastructure brands in my career including EMC, VMware, and Acronis. My co-founder Dan has strong experience with platform and cloud companies including Microsoft, VMware, and Sonian.
Nothing is more important to Dan and I than making sure we have the right team and culture to take on big problems in the cloud–and have fun along the way. If you are interested in finding out exactly what that means, feel free to reach out to any of us!
